I'd suggest checking out the README info for 3.3's Mach64 server and see if
this patch is already included (it may very well be :). The README is somewhere
on www.xfree86.org

Yes, 3.3 is a newer release; 3.2 and all prior releases are obsoleted by it.

kernel: nope, it's fine
walk-u-thru: there are RPMs available in updates for XFree86 3.3, which makes
it pretty simple to upgrade :)
