Can't get 4.2 installed

Subject: Can't get 4.2 installed

I ftp'ed 4.2 from the net.  I tried to install from both a CD and from NFT
mount.  The installation just hangs after the point where I tell the
installation program where the RPMs are.  When I look at the installation
log (Alt-F3 or Alt-F4) I see "permission denied".

Can anyone help?
