A few days back I asked you about compiling my kernel/modulest. Well, this is
what I did:
Moved /lib/modules/2.0.30 to 2.0.30.old
Did a make xconfig
did make dep
did make clean
did make modules
did make modules_install
did depmod -a
and aarrghghh! I got a line for each module that says ****unresolved symbols in
module xxxxx. I also get this when I boot, as well as the same modprobe errors,
not being able to locate the net modules. I couldn't find any references to
them in the file you specified (actually, it was blank).
What am I doing wrong??? I reinstalled my kernel source/headers/module sources
and got the same thing. I've been using BSD and Solaris in school for the past
couple years and Linux is such a great mix of bsd and sysvinit that I thought
it'd be great to use to wet my feet in kernel customization/compilation. And on
my laptop! But I am getting a bit frustrated. A little more help would be much
appreciated....
Thanks,
Aaron Finney
