There's a readme that's probably on your linux box already (it's on
mine):

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/README.tseng

or if you don't have it:

ftp://ftp.XFree86.org/pub/XFree86/current/doc/README.tseng

This lists a number of difficulties you may be having.

Make sure you have a lot of info at hand, because the configurator is very demanding ;)
