grep, egrep, and fgrep.

Hi all,
I know the diff between grep and egrep, but what about fgrep?
What does it do? I did man grep, egrep and fgrep and they all returned to
the same man page. It just explained fgrep is the same as grep -F but never
explained what -F is for.
