Re: winmodems



Correct...  WinModems were designed for M$ windows.  
The reason they won't work without serious coding on 
any other operating system is the same reason they 
are so inexpensive.
A winmodem is essentially a 'dumb' modem, without 
the normal Modulate/Demodulate ramdac code chip 
onboard.  They are completely software 
driven by the operating system.

The moral to this story:  
WinModems are cheap.  You get what you pay for.
