I've done a similar thing with my RHL4.1 installation once. As far as
I remember, only the packages in the "base" section are necessary
(maybe not even all of them, but I never bothered to check at that
time). You'll get to the selection menu after all these error messages
about missing packages, if I'm not mistaken.
I also remember that the installation process came up with a
bunch of error messages about RPM packages not found. I just ignored
these messages, and it went on to install the existing packages that I
chose without a hitch.

There used to be a packages list on the RedHat Website, but they
decided to remove it when they re-designed the pages. As far as I know
they haven't put it up again. (Hello RedHat folks! How about a new
list? :-) )
