How to copy files from a dos drive to a Linux drive

I've just downloaded Xwindows 3.3 while I was in Internet Explorer 4.0, the files are stored on my Dos Drive and I need to copy them to my Linux usr partition to properly extract them....does anyone know the command to do this? cp won't do it properly, I get an error message.
