Although this post is old I'll respond here.
We installed Netscape 3.01 a while back and we haven't been dissapointed.
Installation was very easy, we downloaded a binary from the Netscape ftp
site, installed it in /usr/local/bin and it ran more or less "right out
of the box", with minimal tweaking and configuration. Once installed
configuration is very easy and straightforward, individual users can
configure it to suit their needs (individual specific user configuration
files are maintained in ~/.netscape, i.e. "/home/username/.netscape", and
basically what we wound up with is a full featured, graphical, java
capeable, browser that is easy to use and has all the features that would
be expected from most modern day browsers. I am sure that newer versions
of netscape will perform just as well as the version we are currently using.
We have the following browsers installed here. Netscape, Mosaic, Arena,
and Lynx. Out of all of them Netscape appears to be the most preferred
and frequently used among users.
I'm not trying to put the other browsers down, and which browser you
decide to use is your ultimate choice. The only thing that I can say is
that if you do decide to use Netscape I doubt you'll be dissapointed.
Wish you luck...
