Hello,
I have run into a somewhat unsual problem after installing
RedHat 4.2 Linux for x86. After installing the new system,
when I run X-Windows, I am not able to open up an xterm.
Reviewing my .xsession-errors file showed the following:
xterm: no available ptys
I have not been able to solve this problem. Is this a
problem with the /dev/ptys on the 4.2 system? This
problem occurs whether I'm logged in as root or a normal
user. This is after installing RedHat 4.2 on a fresh disk.
Other than this, everything seems to be working fine.
I have some experience w/ Slackware & MkLinux, but not
enough experience to solve this problem apparently :-)
Can anybody help?
Thanks,
-Stefan
