Re: RH 4.2 xterm problem

<I have run into a somewhat unsual problem after installing
<RedHat 4.2 Linux for x86. After installing the new system,
<when I run X-Windows, I am not able to open up an xterm.
<Reviewing my .xsession-errors file showed the following:
<xterm: no available ptys
<I have not been able to solve this problem. Is this a
<problem with the /dev/ptys on the 4.2 system? This
<problem occurs whether I'm logged in as root or a normal
<user. This is after installing RedHat 4.2 on a fresh disk.
<Other than this, everything seems to be working fine.
<I have some experience w/ Slackware & MkLinux, but not
<enough experience to solve this problem apparently :-)
<Can anybody help?

What desktop are you running? Under Openwindows, xterms start with
