A little more progress. I decided to try installing the XF86Setup
package. The third try was a charm - got it installed. But when I ran
it:
Not all of the device, keysum, error, locale, and color databases are
installed. The file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XKeysymDB is missing.
I'm clueless.
