Re: Can't start X



Thanks to everyone who responded. It was indeed a link problem - I had
failed to install a server. THAT problem is solved - I'm using S3V and
startx now actually starts X. Cool.

But now my mouse is erratic (read useless) and I can't even get to the
xterm window to shutdown. About ALL I can do is Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.

It's a PS/2 mouse (at least it's plugged into a PS/2 port) and the
entry in my X86Config file under Pointers is:

Protocol		"Microsoft"
Device		"/dev/psaux"

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

A side question. What's the difference between XF86Config and
XF86Config.eg ?
