Cannot complete install. Locking up.

I posted a message a week or so ago, but so far have recieved only 1
response which did not attemt to answer any of my questions, so let me
try again with more details.

Whenever I try to install RedHat Linux 4.2 (Intel, on CD rom) my
computer reboots before it can complete the installation. I get the
boot prompt, then initrd.img (followed by dots) then vmlinuz (with dots)
then a screen of text which pops up too quickly to read after which it
immediately reboots.

Here are the specifics of the hardware I am trying to install on:
- Iwill P55XB2 (TX chipset)
- Pentium 233MMX
- Award Modular Bios V4.51PG
- 64MB of SDRAM
- 6.4 GIG quantum fireball ST Ultra-IDE
- ATAPI IDE CD-rom drive
- Diamond Viper V330
- SB 16 value edition (not PnP thank god!)
- NE200 network

The hard drive currently has one 2 gigabyte partition with FAT16 and
Windows 95 installed (of course this should not matter as I was booting
off of a floppy and I dont believe it ever touched the HDD.)

I read on the RedHat site in the hardware compatibility list that the
current kernel is incompatible with TX chipset motherboards, However one
person told me that he had 3 TX computers running with no problems. Is
my problem a symptom of TX chipset incompatibility? Or is it some other
problem that I need to fix.

Also, the RedHat webpage said that Kernel versions 2.1.x will probably
work. Where can I find these versions and is it possible to use a
different kernel during the install? maybe by replacing vmlinuz on the
boot disk?

Thank you,
Owen Davies (owend jps net)

P.S. I've seen some other messages get 10 replies within a day but mine
got only 1 after a week or more. I would appreciate it if a few people
would send me e-mail (direct, not to the list) just to let me know if I
am reaching the whole mailing list.
