Thanks for the answers, but I think you guys are missing the point...
I tried to ftp these files, but aside from the base directory, I
couldn't! The RPMS directory has files with names in it that are
illegal in DOS. This is why I can't create those directories.
I already have seperate linux partitions, but its an old a.out system
and I want to upgrade it to Red Hat, leaving the DOS partition as is.
The DOS partition still has 224M free even after backing up the user
stuff from the linux partition, so I think this should work if I could
just get the files written! There used to be a utility that helped
you select which rpms you wanted by group, and then changed their
names to rpm001 etc. so it would fit in a DOS file space (the rpm
program doesn't care about the filenames, or didn't.)
