I had sort of the same problem, but on metrox. I'll tell you what I
did and you can modify it to suit your monitor specs.
I have a SVGA 15''. I used configX ( i think a metrox tool) to select the
1024x768 resolution. Then everything fitted into one screen. I think i did that
for both physical and virtual resolution.
I have to sympathize with you. There is a whole lot of documentation, but many
times it doesn't help. As a result one ends up spending enormouns amounts of
time trying to get linux and running properly. Now my system is up and running
and I love it, but my wife says she wonders why?
