what about other bits and pieces like C libraries? What is difficult to
understand with linux is which files and packages are "system" and which ones
are "add-ons" because there are overlaps and grey areas (for example, tcl/tk is
essential to do a lot of things in X, but it's not really part of X-windows).
is there anything else that one needs to upgrade when upgrading the kernel ?
