Ethernet problem...

I've encountered a problem recently when installing linux...Now, for rather
odd reasons, I *have* to install Redhat 4.0, and so recently that's just
what I tried to do. (Additional note: I have an SMC EtherPower 10/100 PCI
card, thus would use the tulip driver, no?)

I got through the entire installation process (via NFS) with no problems.
Everything was good and fine, until when I went to reboot. When I tried to
boot up, I had ethernet problems...I got something similar to this in boot:

.
Initializing 'eth0'...
tulip:  register_netdev() returned non-zero
<date stamp> insmod failed.
Delaying eth0 initialization...
.

And thus later, no networking works (BIG problem)...Any help?...I don't
understand why I was able to install via NFS, yet as soon as I reboot, no
networking abilities. In any case, just in case, I downloaded the latest
tulip driver from the cesdis.gsgc.nasa.gov site, copied it via disk to my
linux filesystem, and recompiled the kernel to no avail.

I'd most appreciate any help...
Thanks...
