linux install can't find my adaptec crd and CDROM

Hi All!

Durring my install of red hat linux 4.1 , I can't get the install program
to find my Adaptec 1740 EISA scsi Host and my Sony 79s scsi cdrom.

I'm actually running autoboot off my cdrom, not a floppy, as I have dos on
my system currently with no problems. 

I tried goving boot time arguments such as : AHA-1740=0x230,11,5

but my understanding of this is limited.

Any Ideas????
