first of all, thanks to those who tried to help me w/ my ppp setup
problems. i'm not there yet, but more on that in a sec.
i could not get netcfg to work at all when i tried
su root <password>
netcfg &
(while logged in to X with my user account)
as per the ppp setup tips from red hat's site (i'm using red hat 4.2).
however i finally tried doing su root, and then doing startx, and netcfg
worked for me. i'm guessing that possibly it may have something to do w/
the fact that i switched my user login to fvwm, but left the root account
w/ fvwm95. is there a known problem using netcfg w/ fvwm ?
well, i've gone through all of the steps listed in the ppp setup tips, but
when i try to activate the ppp interface w/ the activate button i do not
get a reaction from my modem, but instead i get this message in the xterm
window:
/usr/bin/pppd does not exist or is not executable
ifup-ppp for ppp0 exiting
well, if anyone out there is good w/ setting up ppp to dial an isp, i'd
really appreciate some help.
thanks,
