Are you using the windows machine as the gateway or the linux box?  I would
guess the linux box since you're posting here. :)  But if not and you just
want to use it as a machine on the net, do you have a login program for
your cable modem (if one is required like: rrlogin.c for the Roadrunner
system as implemented by toshiba) or the appropriate client running for you
type of connection (dhcpcd for dhcp ethernet?)

If you are trying to use the linux box as the gateway and since you are
using a cable modem for access I imagine that you want to masq the packets
(since typically the cable companies are stingy about giving out more than
one IP for free) If so do you have the Masqing modules compiled in and
loading at startup?  And do you have the IP forwarding rules setup
correctly?  There is a mini-howto on linux IP Masqing that I found to be
very usefull which is on all the standard sites.

Also how do you have the network setup (Cable modem to hub, to all the
machines, or what?)
