ifcfg-eth0..?

Greetings,
I have a quick question..! I have been using RH4.1 Linux for a while
now I came to the point where I am doing Virtual Hosts..so I am setting up
Ip address to each host with ifcfg-eth:0,ifcfg-eth:1,2,3,..etc
I reboot the system each time I need to bring the ip up is there a way I
can do it with having to reboot the system ? that is from the console ?
will appreciate all you help.
