Hello All,
I'm having a problem installing redhat 5.0
When choosing install from cdrom, I only get the choice between scci and
"other cdrom" My Atapi cdrom drive is simply not recognized. I can also
see it on the third(?) virtual console. the bootmessages of linux states
that it recognized my two harddrives /dev/hda and /dev/hdc. But on the
line in between a failure is shown, detecting my cdrom drive at
/dev/hdb.
This is strange, since I am already running a linux-box (slackware) and
am hapily using my cdrom drive there. In fact, I built the boot-diskette
from that very cdrom-drive, and CD. So I'm very sure they are both OK.
What could the problem be? Is it the strange setup, a cdrom as hdb,
betwee two harddrives? Is it the version of the kernel that is used in
the installation 2.0.31 vs the 2.0.33 I'm running normally? If anyone
has a sugestion. Let me know.
Please also send a CC to me by email: b r j haverkamp et tudelft nl
Thanks a lot.
Bert
