Hello
In an attempt to ascertain why Netscape 4.04 gives me the
"the server I was trying to connect to does not have a DNS entry"...
error I have looked at the /var/log/messages to see if what I think is
happening is actually happening...
In the messages I see that username and password is accepted
and it gets to the point where I see
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
However I see nothing after this....no statements showing the local IP address
or the remote IP address....could this be why netscape error occurs?
How are these determined? Does pppd establish these and show them in
the messages log? Could this be why my Netscape is not working? I am trying to
connect to my local ISP who dynamically sets my IP address...
I have set up /etc/ppp/options as below...
0.0.0.0:
/dev/cua1 38400
passive
lock
crtscts
defaultroute
noipdefault
asyncmap 0
mtu 552
mru 552
Any assistance to this newbie would be appreciated... :-)
Regards
Jas
