encryption difficultly

Dear list members:
                               I have downloaded PGP-Linux-Binary.tar.gz
from the MIT site and have been unable to determine how to install it or
generate a key pair on RH5.0. I have 2.6.2 , 4.5 and 5.5 running on Dos,
Win95 however Linux is a very recent excursion for me and I would
appreciate some advice or a URL where I might find information to help a
Linux greenhorn set up PGP.
