ppp & LCP timeout

Hello
Many thanks to all for previous suggestions..they were certainly helpful....
I think I am further along in getting ppp going...
However after my script logs in to my ISP, I now get an LCP timeout...
I have checked PPP-HOWTO (thats where I got idea for last line in script)
and PPP FAQs without success.....any tips would certainly be appreciated...
