well, one of the major reasons i upgraded from 4.2 to 5.0 was that i
assumed the sndconfig utility would help me to finally get midi
working with my soundblaster awe32, but no such luck.  when i try to
use playmidi, i get:

open /dev/sequencer: Device not configured

and sndstat just says:
