compiling problem!

I was trying to compile a .c file on RH3.0.3 and I got the following 
message :

/tmp/cca17672.i:1: numeric constant with no digits
/tmp/cca17672.i:1: numeric constant with no digits
/tmp/cca17672.i:1: invalid #line

etc..

As a matter of fact I am unable to compile anything. I checked /tmp and I 
see everybody has rwx permissions! 

I also noticed that there was an entry  in /tmp nsform352C75580094ABA 
with just rw permission for me but it was created at a differnt date. I 
don't know what that entry stands for!

Could any one tell me whats going on. Any help/suggestions would be 
helpful!
