Well,
after beating on this for a while, and with some help from a couple of
you folks out there, I got the problems resolved. Here's how:
I upgraded the portmap on both boxes to release 8 (on the redhat ftp site).
Then I used the control panel / runlevel editor to set up the portmap
to start in run level 3.
When I did the latter manually by making the link in the /etc/rc.d/rc3.d
directory it didn't work, but using the control panel did?????
Anyway, I have all my filesystems exported to where they need to be now.
thanks,
-chuck
