PLEASE, don't do that.
It's just not very nice.
Name your machine something interesting and short
and make sure you list it fully qualified and unqualified
in /etc/hosts (unless you're setting up DNS, but I doubt it).

That will solve any localname resolution problems,
which are typically identified by 2 minute delays
upon processes starting. It will be almost exactly
2 minutes I believe, but I know that the delay will
_always_ be exactly the same duration. It's the
timeout on the lookup. Time your delays and if
they are predictable, this is probably your problem.
Also, try reading the logs, specifically /var/log/messages.
