This happens on MetroX as well. I have an ATI 3D Pro Turbo 8M card set
to 65K colors. The problem is the refresh rate. For whatever reason,
when I set the refresh rate at 85Hz I get the problem, but when I set it
down to 75Hz the problem goes away.
