custom install info?

Is there any information (FAQ, HOWTO, doc) about
customizing a redhat (especially 4.2 for sparc)
installation?  I'm looking for useful things, like "How do
I update the installation tree with the RPMs from the
updates directory so I don't have to update them manually?"
and "How do I minimize how much I have to interact with the
install?"
