Re: Samba

This is what I believe is happening when I boot (from a newbie).
I don't have everything in front of me now since I'm at work.

The network card drivers load: I see a line indicating that ne000 loaded
with the io and irq settings.

Much later, after file systems have been mounted, I see smb service modules
being loaded, smbd, and nmbd. I selected these to be loaded when I
installed RH 5.1.

Tonight I will email you a copy of my smb.conf file. BTW, before making
modifications, I cp'd smb.conf to smb.conf.original. I'm sure you do this
too; but I get lazy sometimes.

I also took the advice of someone many msgs ago who strongly urged getting
TCP/IP working first!!! (thanks to whoever stated this!!!!!) To do this I
set up a static IP on my Win98 box. I then made sure that ping worked from
both machines. In addition, I rebooted everytime I changed something (Win98
forces you to anyway) on BOTH machines.

Hope this helps until tonight (CDT).
Barry
