Resolution (8 bit - 16 bit, etc) on XWindows..

Ok - I have a snazzy graphics card and a relatively snazzy monitor capable
of doing 24 or 32 bit in windows - but for some reason I can't get it to do
anything higher than 8 bit in Xwindows - how do I change that - I try
commenting out or reordering the "screen" sections where it gives the Depth
- thing - but that doesn't seem to work..


help
