Telnet...

I have installed a RedHat 5.1 box on out Windows network and I have been
unable to get it to appear correctly to Windows.
However, I have been able to use Telnet from a Windows box to access it
and log in as a user. I cannot log in as root from Telnet though. It
just comes up, "login incorrect" but I can log in as root on the Linux
box itself.
Does anyone know why this is?
Also, when I start Telnet and try to connect, it prompts me for
Hostname, Port & Termtype. I have just used the defaults - being IP
address, telnet & vt100. Is this correct? Where is the terminal type and
port set up in Linux?
Regards,
Brad
