Hi,
I've been using mkisofs and cdrecord to effectively burn CDs on my external
SCSI CD-RW device, but I can't seem to figure out how to do multi-session
CDs. My Yamaha CDRW-4260TX is supposedly capable of multi-session.
I *think* what I'm supposed to do is the following:
For each session, assuming I'm in the root of the dir tree I want to write:
mkisofs -r -o isofile .
cdrecord -multi isofile
(I have my CDR_DEVICE and CDR_SPEED env variables set appropriately)
It's unclear to me if I have to write the last session without the
-multi flag to "close" the sessions, but I have the same results
either way currently. I also tried running "cdwrite -fix" at the
end, but it returned an error and had no effect.
Then, I should be able to simply mount the CD and see what amounts to
the union of all the sessions (each session is linked to the
previous).
What I see when I mount the CD, however, is only the first session that
I wrote. If I mount it under WIN95, I see nothing at all. I don't
know what I should expect to see if I mount a Rock Ridge format CD
under WIN95, but I assumed it would be somewhat compatable, just not
show the long filenames. Maybe not...
I can run "cdrecord -toc", and see that I have several tracks, of type 2
(except if I write the last track w/o "-multi", in which case the last
track is type 1). However, I'm only seeing the first track when I mount
it under Linux.
Does anybody see what I'm doing wrong?
If this is not the right group to ask the question, can anyone point me to
a more appropriate group? I've asked the question of comp.os.linux.misc and
comp.os.linux.hardware, but received no response...
Does Linux not support mounting multi-session CDs currently?
Thanks for any tips,
Bob
