Can anyone help me, please?I recently recompiled my kernel in
RedHat 5.1. Now I can't log on to Xwindows except as "root"
When I try "startx" from another account, the systems hangs a
long time on the login window with redhatted penguin. Then it hangs
in the gray window with a dot in the center. I was however able to
summon a button that let me exit fxvm despite being grayed out.
Then I got a message:
"The XKeyboard keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
>Error: bad length in Geometry.
> Output file "/var/tmp/server-0.xkm" removed
Errors from the xkbcomp at not fatal to the Xserver
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap
waiting for xserver shutdown
