This is, of course, only a potential install question, but this still
feels like the appropriate forum.
I'm already running RH5.1 successfully on an older Dell PC and am about
to buy a new Quantex 350 mhz PII PC. The Quantex includes an Intel
EtherExpress 10/100 card, which I believe is listed as Tier 1 supported.
Is this a good choice for a NIC?
The more difficult issue is the video card and X support. The choices
offered are:
Intel740-AGP chipset
128-bit RIVA 3D
Matrox G100 AGP
64-bit generic PCI 3D
Assuming I can't get any more specific info out of Quantex, which of
these looks most likely to work? I can't find any of the newer AGP video
cards on the XFree86 supported list, so I assume they are all
problematical, except possibly the generic card, whatever it turns out to
be?
Anyway, if anyone has advice about buying new PC's generally to dual-boot
Linux and Win95, I'd be pleased to hear it. I'll consider other vendor
recommendations as well.
Thanks to all,
