ps to pdf

can anyone explain why the utiliies ps2psf or pdf2ps was not included with
the ghostscript RPM?  I am needing to convert ps to pdf on a number of
documents, and since acrobat distiller doe not function on linux I REALLY
need this functionality.  Can someone out there either tell me the command
line to take a ps to pdf using ghostcript or tell me where I can get the
ps2pdf utility?
