Re: need help setting up named



DO NOT, compile it yourself, unless you are familiar with the compilation
switches.

Use the prebuilt RPM's instead. (and then only if you are upgrading). They
are correctly configured for RH5.1.

If you use the SRC RPM's and compile yourself, the defaults will be set to
what the original defaults were, not to those used by RH5.1. You must use
the build switches to correct this.

Furthermore  YOU must manually create the files in the /var/named directory.

Read the DNS howto's as this is a pretty involved topic.

Optionally pick up a book, so you can go over the intricacies before you
attempt the configuration.

While it is not difficult, there are a few choices which you need to make,
that require you to be pre-informed...
