No, no, no, no, no! In the RPMS directory of 5.1 (also something
similar is probably in earlier versions) is a file
basesystem-4.9-2.noarch.rpm. I have it installed. I'd bet everyone else
using any RedHat installation has one. A query says it should be
installed first and never (!!!!!!!) be removed.
As for the problem, I dunno. Maybe try renaming it to the original name
just to see if it works OK.
