Can't get ftp to work

I have setup myself as a user but I can't connect to my 5.1 with ftp. ftp is
NOT commented out in inetd.conf and ftp-0.10-2 is installed. However I don't
have anonftp installed (but ncftp is).

What am I missing?

BTW, my previous post about sendmail is now inaccurate. I saw that
sendmail-doc was and RPM and I will install it.
