Re: X Permissions problems

I had the same problem using AcceleratedX; same message, everything.

In my opinion, the message is not applicable to the problem you are
experiencing. In my case, my user login stalled at the logo screen, but
would not go to a window manager. Root login worked fine.

What I had done was sym-link my /home directory to my raid0 drive in an
effort to save some space in the / dir. While I had the X problem I
experimented with HOME and PATH settings, trying to get the X set of apps
to look at /raid/home. I was able to get a crude and rude window manager
to show, but it had only one window without any borders or handles. No
menus, either.

I deleted the link and loved all my /raid/home stuff back to /home where it
belonged and everything was back in working order.

So, have you done anything that would cause the X server grief in finding
your home directory, or in finding the X window manager files it needs? If
so, you need to fix that. If not, I hope someone else can point to a
solution.
