O.K. -
1. Boot Linux from floppies - boot, RamDisk 1 & 2.
2. Accept defaults through all the screens until the task to partition
disks.
3. The screen then lists 3 partitions and what it found for each of
them.
/dev/hda 128 heads 63 sectors 935 cylinders
/dev/hdb 255 heads 63 sectors 851 cylinders
/dev/hdc 255 heads 63 sectors 851 cylinders
I then select /dev/hdc since ( and I am guessing ) that that is the free
space on spindle 2 - no DOS partition.
fdisk then returns the following:
You will not be able to write the partition table.
You must set heads sectors and cylinders.
You can do this from the extra functions menu.
Warning: Invalid flag 0000 of partition table 4 will be corrected by
write.
If I use cfdisk I get 0 returned for sectors, heads, and cylinders of
/dev/hdc.
If I go to fdisk from the virtual console, I get the same message block.
