OK,

I think I can offer 2 hints:

1) create a boot disk during the install. This will let you boot even if
LILO install fails

2) I had to append the parameter "linear" to my lilo options. Since you
have a big
hard disk, try this and it might just work.

Once you've installed and can boot via boot diskette, getting LILO to work
should
not be such a big deal ...

Hello everyone,

Here is my problem:

I am trying to install Redhat 6.0 to an unused area of my hard drive.

The drive is 25 Gig and Windows 98 is using one large 20 Gig partition. It
is set as the active partition. The other 4 Gigs is where I want to put
Linux.

When I try to install Redhat, I boot using the floppy and run the install
program using the custom installation.

Everything works OK until I need to make my Linux partitions. Using Disk
Druid I am able to create the Linux swap file, but when I try to create the
root partition, I receive the message that the partition is to large. I
receive the "partition is too large" message no matter what I set my
partition as.

If I use fdisk, I can create 2 partitions, one for root, one for the swap.
The install then proceeds to copy files, set up mouse, etc.

When I hit the LILO(sp?) install, LILO fails to install. It does not matter
where I put LILO. I have an option of skipping over the LILO install, but
then I am unable to load Redhat when my computer reboots.

I would like to be able to put Linux on my drive. I am really stuck at this
point, as I have ZERO Linux experience (I have had Redhat for all of about
24 hours at this point). Has anyone run into this problem?

3.5 floppy drive
