RedHat: Error with 3Com900b Combo

Hello, all linux experts:

I would like to stall redhat v.6.0 coexisting with Windows 98.
I want to install via FTP. When I configure the network, my network
interface card is 3Com900B Etherlink XL Combo. I choose autoprobe. Then
I was asked to enter the IP address of my computer, submask, gateway,
name server. After I enter all(no error),  and press OK, an error
message appears: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable.

Could somebody tell me what it means and how to resolve it.

Another newbie Q: In my computer, I have one hard disk drive. Under
Windows98, in System Properties, (Device Manager Section), the Hard disk

controllers contains Primary IDE controller and secondary IDE
controller. What does it mean ?
