Re: Installing MySQL, PHP3 and Apache

Will the default apache install during the RH 6.0 installation support PHP3? I tried uncommenting the AddModule, LoadModule lines in httpd.conf, and added an extension line in srm.conf. Apache runs, but simply displays a.php3 file, does not execute it.

If you installed things using RPMS, you can get PHP, Apache & MySQL working
together by building your own RPM file, from the source on the redhat CD (I
did it with 6.0...I'm not sure about 5.2). Check out
http://www.php.net/FAQ.php3#3.3 for detailed directions.

If you installed Tarballs, I have found that installing MySQL, Compiling &
installing Apache, then following the PHP installation instructions very
precisely worked best.

You do need to go into the httpd.conf file (I think that's the one) and
enable the 2 mod_php3 statements.

If you need help, or have more questions, let me know.

Both work quite well, however; PHP3 code works with Apache 1.3, but when
calling mysql commands, it replies 'Unrecognized command: mysql_connect'.
It seems obvious that I need to recompile Apache with MySQL support. Is
there a line in the apache config I can edit to do the same or is this
requiring a recompile?
