Re: Compiler Installs



Here is the way I've done this in the past: determine what you think is
the lowest level package that you need from the development section of
gnomeRPM (the libraries are a good place to start).  Try to install that
first.  If you get a dependency error, it will tell which files it
needs.  From that you can determine which package(s) you need to install
in order to install the one you started with.  It will take some time
but once you find your entry point you can work up the chain from
there.  This still may not catch all the packages you need.  But, I'm
sure that you can get help here if you reach a dead end.

You may still determine that it may be faster to do a full reinstall and
then reconfigure the system again.  I usually keep a printout of all my
configuration files when I'm facing something like this.

If anyone has any better ideas jump in here.
