Yea, thanks, and THANKS TO EVERYONE ELSE who replied.  I finally just booted the CD, selected UPGRADE, and added all the "Development" sections all all worked out great!!  Lessons learned :)

I did that once.
But what I did to correct it was to open the CD
under where all the install files are and then select
all the ones having to do with gcc, g++,
libs this and libs that, and all the "devel" stuff.

Then it should be able to install from source.
If you require more parameters on this, please let me know.
