want to install primary slave as redhat dedicated drive (master is Win98)

i was told that since my 1 gig of free space is at the end of my 8.4 
gig primary master that linux could not reside there.  luckily i have 
a spare 1.7 gig that i could add as primary slave (deleting all the 
dos/windows paritions on it).  is there any problems or special 
instructions for booting with this configuration?
